Fees and Costs

Initial and Follow-up Appointment Fees

Anyone can make an appointment to see Dr Beamond at Wakefield Orthopaedic Clinic.

You can make an appointment then arrange for your general practitioner to send through a referral
prior to your appointment date.

With a valid referral, you will receive a Medicare rebate. A valid referral has to be current and come from a general practitioner or another specialist.

Without a valid referral, you will not obtain your Medicare rebate and be required to pay the full consulting fee.

Medicare does not completely cover the cost of your consultation. Private insurance does not cover the gap.

Initial consultation fees charged by Dr Beamond are as follows:

  • Routine -  $215.00
  • Pensioners - $175.00

Follow-up consultation fees are as follows:

  • Routine - $100.00
  • Pensioners - $85.00

There is no "out-of-pocket" cost for DVA patients.

Full payment of your account is required on the day of appointment.

Surgery Costs

Dr Beamond's practice is a small business with significant expenses. He also provides personal care and time to all his patients.

There are "out-of-pocket" costs ("gaps") associated with having treatment in the private health sector despite private health insurance. The benefits of private health sector care are choice and access to elective surgery not available promptly in the public health sector. Dr Beamond continues to provide a service to those in the public health sector as a Senior Visiting Orthopaedic Specialist at the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

Informed financial consent is obtained from all patients prior to surgery.

Accurate quotations are provided to self-insured patients.

Booking and administration fees are never charged.
